For me the big question about the claims in the chat log: what was Manning's source? As far as I know, nothing about his work would have given him access to NSA inner workings. Secret crypto breaks are exactly the kind of thing NSA wants to guard most zealously; they will advise interested parties (like the Pentagon) "use this system," or "avoid that system," and the like ... but they don't want to advertise (for example) that they've broken AES. Why would that be disclosed to an army private?
