Fortunately, I have fewer attachment issues these days, so I didn’t have a problem swapping my PeopleTowel out for another and, at the end of a week, throwing all three in the laundry. All I need now is to make it a habit. But for me, and, I imagine, for most Americans, it’s going to be an uphill battle. It goes beyond just remembering to bring the towel with you every time you go to the bathroom. Instead, embracing the personal towel calls for an entire change in the definition of what we consider to be gross. Keeping a damp and slighty soiled rag on your person? Practical. Mindlessly wasting every year? We need to get to the point where we find that to be disgusting.
